DICK
DICK (Dudes of ICK), was started in reaction to LICK. The men of ICK were at a loss when they found out the Ladies of ICK were to congregate for a bookclub without them. The men started their own fringe group on the same night of our bookclub meetings, in order to stay occupied, and feel relevant to society. The DICK meetings are held at John's 2nd condo, and feature fine meats from Top Valu Market.

Poker Night

Poker Night is held on either a Friday or Saturday night at Vera & Millie's house. The frequency of poker night varies. The game of choice seems to be Texas Hold'em. Prior participants include Bree, Frank, Beth & Heather. For those who do not know how to play, we are very gentle and will even play a practice game prior to real betting.
Participants generally contribute between $20-$25 to the pot before play begins, with an additional $10-$12 for take-out dinner. Bring your own beverage and snacks.
Leave a comment if you would like to be notified when the next game has been scheduled.

LICK (Ladies of ICK Book Club) March 2006
The ladies of ICK (or LICK) have been busy broadening their literary horizons while the men just sit and eat. So far we have read Grapes of Wrath (John Steinbeck) and The Long Goodbye (Raymond Chandler).
The next LICK meeting is set for some time in March at Beth's house. Beth's selection is The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. This novel is slightly longer than the other two, so get it early and start reading!
Once Beth decides on a date and time, she can leave a comment and I'll update this entry.

Academy Awards Night
The Academy Awards (aka "Oscars") will be screened on Vera's spankin' new 50" plasma TV on Sunday, February 25, 2007. The show starts at 5:30 p.m. (PST), but the all-important red carpet events (where we get to admire/ridicule outfits) start at 3:00 p.m. Viewers are welcome to arrive beginning at 4:00 p.m. (I suppose you could come at 3pm, but you will be put to work!)
Warning: there will be a voluntary Oscar pool conducted during the show. Prior to start time, participants will be asked to record their predictions regarding the winners on pre-printed ballots. Each category that is televised will be voted on. The winner is the entrant with the most correct predictions. There will be an entry fee of $10 per person for anyone who wants to play. First place gets 50% of the pool, second places gets 30% and third place gets 20%.
Vera will be providing, gratis, a delicious dinner of sliced tri-tip beef with risotto cakes (a creamy risotto made using the finest fontina cheese then gently fried into delicate crispy cakes). These cakes can be quite lovely with their molten-cheese centers. Vera is looking for hints on where to find panko (Japanese breadcrumbs).
The rest of the meal (i.e. apps, veggies/salad, dessert) is up to us.
Please use the comment feature to record both your attendance and what you will be bringing to the pot-luck feast. Please make sure your name appears somewhere in the post so we know who is bringing what.
